Ian Armitage

Ian is Chairman of HgCapital. He joined the private equity division of Mercury Asset Management plc in 1988 which, in 2000, became independent as HgCapital. Prior to this, he spent ten years with 3i plc, in London and Dublin. Ian has significant investment experience across a wide range of industries.   Ian has investment experience across three decades and multiple cycles, having worked on over 40 investments. He sits on HgCapital’s Investment, Portfolio Review and Valuation Committees. He has a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the University of Oxford.

Stephen Bough

Stephen is head of the Finance, Fund Administration, Human Resources and IT functions. Stephen joined in 1998, having qualified as an accountant while at Prudential Assurance Company where he spent ten years. During that time he held various financial and management accounting roles within Prudential's general and life insurance divisions, the group’s tax department and the fund accounting business. Stephen is a member of HgCapital’s Executive and Valuation Committees and the Renewable Power Partners Investment Committee and has responsibility for investor relations in respect of our listed client HgCapital Trust plc. Stephen is a Fellow of the Chartered Certified Accountants.

Nic Humphries

Nic is CEO of HgCapital. He joined HgCapital in 2001, having previously worked at Geocapital Partners where he founded its European business. Prior to that, he was head of Barclays Private Equity’s IT and telecoms team. He started his career at 3i plc and has over 20 years’ experience of the private equity and venture capital industry. Nic’s investment experience has focused on the TMT sector. Nic is a member of HgCapital’s Executive Committee, as well as its Investment, Portfolio Review and Valuation Committee. He has led investments including Visma, IRIS Software & CS Group plc, Rolfe & Nolan, Xyratex, Geneva Technology and NextGenTel. He has co-led investments in Addison Software and SiTel Semiconductor. He is currently a director on the board of Visma. Nic is also a World Fellow of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Nic holds a First Class degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Salford and was an IEEE and National Engineering Council scholar.

Laura Dixon

Laura has responsibility for the Investor Relations of HgCapital Trust plc. Laura joined HgCapital in 2010. Prior to this Laura has spent 19 years’ within financial services on both the buy and sell-side, initially at Smith New Court and Merrill Lynch and more recently as a Partner at NewSmith Asset Management providing investor coverage to their hedge fund clients.
